I'm not suppose to plant java fern in the substrate right ,but I want it to attach to the gravel in the bottom of the tank .Is there something that I can use as a anchor till it will attach .Something forked that I can push over it in to the substrate.Thanks for any advise

plastic fork? You could do that..I normally just wrap a plant weight around the rhizome and drop it in.

You can anchor the fern down with a piece of rock. Just make sure the rhizome has access to light.
