I'm having a problem with all my JFs--lace, trident, needle and narrow. The tips, especially on the new ones, are melting by turning clear. It's odd because it's growing so well with many new leaves and plantlettes. My tank is hi-tech, btw.

The tips on my baby java ferns are always translucent green and thicken up as they mature. Watch them, bet that is what is happening.

Yep, that sounds like growth. I have a few narrows in my tank to dress up the driftwood and the ends are clearish green with new growth.

Not too dig up an old thread, but this is happening to my Amazon Swords.

They are growing quite well, although I need to spread them out a bit. They are not getting taller, but I see lots of new growth, and the existing leaves are getting larger.
