Hey all,
Ive had this "mother" java fern in my 30 gallon for quite some time now. I always attached the plantlets it produced to drift wood and rocks, until just now. Attaching the tiny plants gets really annoying....they either slip away and go into the filter or a fish rips them of. So now, I got the idea that I could put them in a cup (filled with water from the tank) and place them on a windowsill that gets a moderate amount of light during the day. Have any of you done this? Can it work or will it kill all my babies?

Have you used super glue yet to attach the plantlets? My ferns seem locked down tight with superglue.

But as for the window sill I would think it would be okay as long as u did occasional water changes.

Might work if the window sill isn't too cold over night.

I just use a drop of super glue to hold the babes in place. The drift wood only needs to be towel dried for this to work

No, I never tried superglue but I might pick some up next time Im at a 99cent store. =P
The thing is that the plantlets I have in the cup seem too small to tie or glue down.
Its nice to see you don't think its a completely bogus idea.

That would be GEL superglue

Are you removing these little plants yourself? Cause mine, for the most part, stay attached until they are pretty large.

Yup, I remove most of the plants myself. In my experience, leaving the plantlets in there makes the leaf they are on die quicker.
