This is true. They don't seem much more elaborate to build than most aquarium stands, except you have a few angles to deal with.they do look a lot like a sawhorse....or something a guy could make from scrap.

Just because they might have been in Japan when the photo was taken doesn't mean the benches were necessarily made there! Plus, the first two images were recently posted by Oliver Knott and were taken at the "ADA Idea Studio" in Poland....check OK's instagram belowThe pictures were taken in ADA Nature Aquarium Gallery in Japan. This means the benches are made in Japan. I don't think they are sold in US... You should be able to find similar ones to get if you google.
They appear to have been made using real joinery. That's not always so easy, particularly when dealing with angles. This is true. They don't seem much more elaborate to build than most aquarium stands, except you have a few angles to deal with.
Well the the picture posted by @jeffkrol does seem to by using real joinery, but that costs $1500 according to him. The ones in the picture at ADA are not this elaborate, and you can bet they are not in that price range. They appear to have been made using real joinery. I might be seeing things (not the first time), but I believe I can make out the tops of some tenon joints on the seat of the benches in the ADA show room. Not saying that means they'll cost $1500 - real joinery costs extra, but not always that much. It's a doable DIY project, but I still think it would be a toughy!Well the the picture posted by @jeffkrol does seem to by using real joinery, but that costs $1500 according to him. I can see the angles giving someone a little trouble with the first leg or two, but after that you simply copy the parts.
