it is possible to have all females

okay, I had bought some yellow shrimp a while back. I had a two females in the tank they produced offspring and both died while berried their second time arround. I would say that I have arround fifty shrimp but it has been about three months and I have yet to see any berried females. Is it possible that all 50 are females? The water parameters are all correct. PH 7, TDS 200, temp 75, 1-2 Nitrites, well planted and water change once a week. They are all well colored so I am not sure if they are all female or not. I am debating if I should buy some more to see if I can pick up a few males and be certin that there is both sexes in the tank.

Any thoughts?

Strange. . The frys should be ready to breed after three months. Even my juvies get berried sometimes.

IMO - Give it another week or two. If not, just buy some more shrimps.

did you make any changes during this time?
changed ferts or ammount of dosing, lighting, water source... feeding, filters...
I had the same problem with cherries.... I had all right parameters and they were reproducing like too much, I sold a couple hundred and they took about 6 months to get back on reproducing.
Also I had changed from a HOB filter to a canister and added co2 and changed the setting from lightly planted to heavily planted... I guess that all stressed them a bit.

Took too long but they are now back at it. hopefully yours won't take that long

Well, it's possible... but the odds would be 562,949,953,421,312 to 1 against.

Is there something you use to prevent the baby shrimp from being sucked into your canister filter?

I use a sponge filter on this tank along with a chiller that has Poret filter covering (30 PPI) on the both the intake and outtake.

I have not changed anything in months and all my other shrimp are breeding just fine. Very strange...
