I tore up my 125g tank and put soilmaster in it. It's been 3 weeks with the new substrate and I got some kind of algae on most plants. Here are some pictures:

Is this the famous diatom algae? The affected leaves have brown dust on it and grew cotton-candy like brown strings which are very fine and easy to remove from the leaves.
Plants grew fine but it's yucky looking at the brown stuff on them.

Water parameters:
gH=25
kH= usually 11-12 (down to 8-9 because of soilmaster)
pH= about 6.5-6.6 w/ CO2 injection (2 external reactors on 2 XP3)
EI fertilization 1.5 KNO3, 1 tsp Enema, 1/4 CSMB, all 3X a week.
Lighting CF 192W for 9 hours + additional CF 192W for 5.5 hours (increased the lighting from 192W 9 hours + additional 192W 2 hours).

The tank has no fish at the moment.

If it is diatom, ppl said it'll go away by itself, but it looks like it's getting worse. Anything I need to do to get rid of it? I heard otos & SAEs. How about excel?

Typical start-up algae. Bigstick is right: a few Ottos and it'll be gone in no time.
