I found this CO2 generator (the 4L with a solenoid) available on craigslist nearby for $75. Is this unit any good? I will be using it on a 20 gallon long. I'll probably be running the tank at medium energy levels. I have no desire to crank the CO2 and light, just means more trimming for me.

I was planning on getting the CO2art setup, but this unit seems kinda promising. I was going to swap the in-tank diffuser for an in-line diffuser. Do these generator systems work well?

The kits that require mixing things are messy and less dependable than the pressurized systems. I run my CO2Art CO2 setup tanks at medium energy too.

They look like a fancy option for diy co2, but they are no more reliable then a plastic soda bottle, some airline tubing, and diffuser. If you want DIY co2, save yourself a lot of money and reuse an old juice bottle or whatever. If you want a proper regulator and pressurized setup, then it will run you around 250 dollars all in by the time you buy the regulator and co2 tank etc.

Yeah, for that price, I'd just go pressurized. It's a lot less hassle and more reliable. A 5lb tank can last months even for very large tanks. That thing you're going to be messing with nearly every day.
