Is this a water Lily? Mystery plant!

605 Views 5 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  jmhk
I bought this plant as a bargain for my 10 litre from pets at home. It looked very weak when I got it so I just placed it in a sand base and hoped for the best and now it has lovely leaves and a small bud however I have no idea what it is or to how to continue caring for it. I'm new at this forum so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but I'm hoping you can help?

Looks like a flowering Anubias to me. Does it have a rhizome bottom?
Definitely an Anubias. It's a simple plant to keep; low to moderate lighting, simple ferts or root tabs and you should be all set.
congrats.

I've had an anubias flower a couple times before, always interesting to see.

They are pretty awesome plants, really tough, low maintenance, etc.
Don't mean to highjack the thread, but I have mine on drift wood. Should it be in the substrait instead?
The roots can be in the substrate, but the rhizome should not be or it will rot. Most people just have anubias on rocks or driftwood.
