too many plants? Health wise I mean? Does there come a time when so many plants take away or add to many nutrients, oxygen ect to a tank making it unhealthy for shrimp?

as long as you have good aeration, there isn't such a thing as too many plants. and also as long as they are not decaying and polluting the tank.

hoestly i think there is... to much plants contain less light for other plants which = to no light over time unless they all are at less free of the top to get the light they need to grow... so in a way i think there is... just think of it like this the more plants = the more work... more fertz...more clean up of old decaying leafs.... etc etc ....

The hardest part of having too many plants is maintaining a good flow in the tank. If not then there goes algae.

I think this is an interesting question. What if your tanks are low tech & you don't add ferts? Couldn't you have too many plants in a case like that? You can add osmocote caps to the soil, but would you have to find a balance between fish & plants for things like bolbitis, java ferns, mosses, etc? Just curious...
