Is my heater safe?

It’s almost cool enough for me to put a heater in my tank. When I took my heater out I noticed that something was rattling around inside.

Is there a safe way to check that the heater still works properly without electrocuting myself?

FWIW, My glass heater would have the coils rattle against the glass.
If you want to check it, I would try it in a GFI outlet in a bucket.

Also, remember to let it sit unplugged for a while to equalize the temps before plugging it in.
Heh, in my experience heaters are never safe. I've had more fish deaths from heaters than CO2 dumps by far.
Sounds like good advice taz. I'll do that. Thanks
Don't even bother with the glass ones. Get a Visi-therm stealth.
I already have a heater. I'm not looking to buy a new one unless the one that I currently have is broken.

My 9 years old glass heater still functioning perfectly.
