is it too early to put my substrate and soil in?

i'd preferably like to add my soil and substrate to the tank today to start picturing how i want to scape the rocks that arrive tomorrow (and see if i even have enough) - is it ok to leave the soil in the tank with no water for a day or 2 till the plants arrive?

Is the soil you're using potting soil? I think it would be fine regardless, especially if it's only a couple days. Longer, you might start worrying about mold or bugs getting in your dirt (Bugs sometimes happen regardless even with dirt straight out of the bag... little gnat-type things, IDK what they are. The water will drown them--no worries).
