Are the Fluorite type substrates (such as Floramax) too large for Marsilea or DHG root systems? What substrates have you had luck with (and what have you not)? I have about a third a bag of the stuff left, but I'm filing a 29gal so I dont mind changing substrate since I'll need more anyways.

I have it in Fluorite but it's coarse sand under the Fluorite as you can see here.

The pieces of the sand are about the size of a BB. The Fluorite is the original(redish/
dark tan) and you can see pieces of both in that picture. You'll never vacuum it after you plant in it so it will fill/w detrius/mulm. As you can see in that picture I don't even take off what is on top because that's natural plant ferts. And so far no problem/e organics.
