I'm thinking about getting a Mr. Aqua 12 Gallon Long tank (35.4 x 8.3 x 9.4). Would the Finnex Ray II be too much light to sit on top of the tank? I will be using CO2.

I think it might be, and you may be better to use the Fugeray as I am pretty sure that it will provide you enough for light for medium light. Finnex has the par charts for all of them on here somewhere. As I forgot how deep the 12 long is.

It is 35.4 inches long.

It will be wayyyyyy too bright, go with the fugeray, are you using CO2? The ray II would have about 130 or so par, and the fugeray is around 105 at the height of the tank, so you would have to hang them either way, one just higher than the other.
