I have kept neos @ 78. It really shortened their gestation periods, were hatching eggs in about 3 weeks. From what I've read and observed on mine it also accelerates their life cycle at those higher temps. So they dont live as long.
You could also end up with a murder betta, in which case shorter life span is a moot point.. sorry for the grim humor
