I am setting up a (loose) wild betta biotope and would like an invert to help clean up waste. (Currently bladder snail waste, but soon it will be betta waste.) I know that CRS can take the lower PH, but maybe not the higher temperature. Any experience keeping inverts in these conditions?

I have kept neos @ 78. It really shortened their gestation periods, were hatching eggs in about 3 weeks. From what I've read and observed on mine it also accelerates their life cycle at those higher temps. So they dont live as long.

You could also end up with a murder betta, in which case shorter life span is a moot point.. sorry for the grim humor

Green or Zebra C. Baubalti shrimp do great under those temperatures. Ive kept them under those conditions for longterm and they have thrived.

I actually like Amanos (and keep quite a few), but I didn't realize that they'd work at those parameters.

Ive kept them under those conditions for longterm and they have thrived.

I have false amanos (possibly Australian Amanos - Caridina typus complex) living in a tank at 5.5 pH - no heater.

Thats super interesting, I have a tetra tank at those params and cant keep neos going in it at all. But the amanos in it are still going after about 3 years. I'm guessing the hardness is too low for my neo variants? Then again I dont supplement the calcium in that tank either.

Possibly the hardness. Though, more likely a combination of the high temperature and hardness. With high temps, come shorter lifespans, different pathogens and other things we can't easily see or measure. Most dwarf shrimp are cool water critters, so I'd consider 82 extremely high for Neos.

I don't keep my neo's at that temperature. It is my C. Babaulti's. Neo's and all other shrimp (besides Babaulti) I don't use a heater.
