Introducing..... Me

Just introducing myself. My name is Casey and this is my first real attempt at an aquarium. Years ago I had a 29 gallon with an African cichlid but I really didn't know what I was doing so I'm trying to do it correctly and I'm really excited about it. I was very lucky because the tank and stand were given to me as a gift. I'll talk a little about my tank
30 gallon cube made by Oceanic.
Current Satellite Plus Pro
Cascade 700 canister filter
Seachem fluorite black sand with black diamond on top
I don't use co2 but I use flourish Excel
I feel stupid because I don't remember all the names of my plants but I'm sure some of you could help me out with that. The ones I remember:
Spiralis crypt
Green cabomba
Monte Carlo
Broadleaf ludwigia
Rotala indica
Staurogyne repens

Don't judge too harshly on the background. I wanted to try something different but it's a little "loud" for me. Soon I'll try something else.
Livestock:
Neon tetras x 4
Flying Fox x 2
Peppered Cory cat
Bristle nose pleco
Albino bristle nose pleco

I guess that's pretty much it. I welcome any pointers as well as suggestions for additional fish!

Hello there. I like your tank. As far as stocking suggestions you could just add more neons. They look better in larger groups. I don't think you asked lol but the only thing I would change about the arrangement is trying to put the c spiralis behind the wood maybe on the right side and move the plant that's there where the spiralis is. Looks nice though. The background is different. I kind of like it.

Your background does stray away from a natural look if that's important to you. But I really like it! I think it looks neat.

Then again... I have to constantly stop myself from buying the deco like a skeleton with a treasure chest that has air bubbles popping open the chest lid every minute or so. ;) (These and similiar are from my childhood, 40+ years ago, if they don't make them anymore)

Anyway, I don't have any advice but I think your tank in general looks nice. I like the scaping.

Thank you! My instinct was telling me the same thing about the neons so I will definitely do that. And yes I am thankful for advice on the scaping. It's funny because it wasn't until after I shoved everything in there (without a plan) and let everything grow up that I now have a better idea on how I want it to look. When I get the chance to start a new tank I will plan a lot more. I will rearrange it a little and hopefully not damage any plants in the process. I definitely need to swap the locations of my hygrophila and monte carlo because you can hardly see the monte carlo.

Thank you! I agree about the background. It would be a cool look for a more "fantasy" themed tank.
Have fun and make small adjustments. Get the Monte Carlo up front in some way (didn't even see it before lol). Just make sure to let thing settle after a rearrangement so you don't stress the plants to death.

Thank you for the input everyone. I rearranged and got that monte carlo up front. Should I be trimming back the parts that grow tall?
