I am starting a riparium, and I am wondering where I should place my Tetra internal 30i filter (stupid question I know). My tank is a 20g high, with no hood. The filter is about 10in tall, and the water level is about 7in+. Would it be fine if I put part of the intake in my subtrate (which is normal aquarium gravel)? Should I place it in the middle of my tank or?

Thanks,
Jake

You could place it on it's side in one of the back corners if you wanted to. I did this in my failed attempt at a riparium.

It's okay to put part of it in the substrate, long as the gravel isn't small enough to be pulled in. I've never been a fan of putting it sideways since it won't make use of media as well as it would upright.

I remember when I used to use Whisper internal filters as pots in my paludariums. Pretty effective.
