I was never a big fan of drawing out the top view of the tank for layout purposes. It never gave me a view of how the tank would turn out...

So I'm making this...

I've only started but it'll give you a taste of the application.. Not sure if I have too much time for it but I'll finish it eventually.

oh! and I need good quality pictures of the whole plant if you would like to contribute to this project.

Excellent idea! Could you make it that we could mix two substrates, like half sand and half Amazonia(?).

TOO COOL!!!!! One more thing for the wish list IF it's possible ~ to be able to put some plants on top of things, like anubias on top of the driftwood. Currently we can put them in front of the wood, but if we want to "attach" it to the top of the wood it doesn't work. All the other things (more type of plants, resizing plants, etc.) would be great.

Man, this is just awesome!!

Yes, scaling is in the works... but I'll not add rotate because it'll be weird..
And no on put objects on top of objects like an anubias on driftwood.. It would take too much work to program and define the actual 3 dimensional dimensions of an object.

When you get this all completed this will be an awesome application. I definately look forward to seeing more abilites to the plants rocks and other additions

show this to a major fish/plant reseller
fish tank gravel/ornament manufacturer,
or major fish/plant hobby magazine,
(who can provide graphic elements)
boarder it with some banner ads that
update on every refresh, and watch
the pennies pour in!

I was thinking this could be just one small component in a larger application where you can enter in and keep track of your water params, and fishes etc...

It'll be fun to see fishes swim in that virtual tank. It'll like 'fish tycoon' lol.

For tracking there is already an application called Aquarix, but your design idea is GREAT! Keep up good work!

thanks.. I'm on a MAC so I can't use a lot of these apps. There is a mac app, Maquarium. It would be nice to do this all through the web from any computer.
