So I've been gone this past weekend and when I came home I did not notice anything wrong. This morning when I got up to look at the tank. I opened the hood and notice little insects on top of the water. Looked like flying ones (had wings). They were pretty small. I scooped them all out and trashed them.... Any ideas?

I have something siilar, but I'm unsure what they are. I doubt they're mosquitos. You would see the larvae first.

A picture would have helped. I have had springtails take up residence in tanks before. They are so tiny that the fish don't notice them. I believe they are wingless though. You might find midges or fruit flies around your tanks. Both of these are fairly to very small.

Possibly Aphids? There are a number of aphids that specialise in attacking emergent aquatic plants. They are sap feeders. I was infested so badly at one point that I cut all my plants 2" below the water line to ensure there was nothing for them to feed on and the fish took care of any floaters!

I have tiny white bugs that stay on the glass near the water line. When they fall in they hop/fly around like fleas.
These would most likely be springtails (Order: Collembola). I get these on all my tanks too - they congregate and feed on wet wood where I have wood jutting up from the water.
