In need of new needle valve

1917 Views 14 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Kensho
My metering valve on my build has become "crunchy" while turning, and not holding my bc consistent as it once did.

Fleabay has these- ideally a direct replacement would be a 90 degree, 1/8 fnpt, fnpt.

I am pretty clueless on the specs I need when looking at the manufacturers website.

Thanks

Parker HR 3
Swagelok S series w/ Verner
Hoke <-- thread somewhere here on these valves

You don't have to look for the spec, the research been done, just got to find a good idea.

Fabco works too, not as good as the above.

I didn't take a look at the links, way too many steps , sorry
What are they?

Wth - I can't find half the items from last night

I do use bettatail tails FAQ thread as a starting point

I think when I was trouble shooting, I crossed threaded the elbow to the valve. A burr may have gotten in the valve and is causing the crunch/drag when turning. I never use the valve to shut off the c02.

Anyone- still looking around. Mine is serviceable but requires tuning every few days.

Gyrolock to whatever is "downstream" i.e more pipe, tube.. ect..
I'm assuming after your needle valve you have "tube"????

http://catalog.hoke.com/viewitems/adapters/male-adapter-am?

It is a bit intimidating.. but fortunately relatively cheap

http://catalog.hoke.com/Asset/GYROLOK-Tube-Fittings-Catalog----79002ENG.pdf

fortunately you only need one since it is already 1/8NPT on the "supply" side..

Example.. valve is 2 gyroloc w/ 1=1/4npt adapter and 1/8npt adapter:

By the time you buy all the adapters shouldn't I just spend 20 bucks on another valve

Certainly, depends on the price and functionality of the valve you are referring to.
The hoke had 1/8 npt on one side.. and IF that is what you have, you only need one adapter.. which could be found for about $5 I "suspect"...

I haven't a clue as to what you can and can't get.. just what I thought was available at a fair price.. Hey, it's brand new.. not used and who knows if it has any damage..
If you can get new or guaranteed cheaper go for it..
It isn't "special" nor a "screaming deal".. just a suggestion..
Fit your needs and wasn't retail..On the retail market I believe that style goes for $60-$80.... but we don't do retail..
I'd never suggest anything I wouldn't buy myself..

IF the swaglok is the same as the Hoke.. that one adapter is:
331175539133
$8.75 in stainless steel..
Thanks for the reply, the hoke is an option. I like to keep fittings and connections to a minimum. I'll keep looking
