Not sure where this should go in the forum. Please move if needed.

How important is water flow for CO2 injected, high light, EI tanks? I have a low tech 10 gallon that I'd like to transition to high tech. The HOB filter is at its lowest flow setting, and my betta just barely tolerates it. He hates any type of water movement. And my ramshorn snails sometimes get caught in the almost non-existent stream created by the outlet of the filter. Occasionally I'll find them caught in a vortex being perpetually tossed around until I intervene. Surface agitation is minimal.

Should I donate my snails to the LFS and wait for my betta to pass before transitioning to a proper high tech setup, or is it doable given the aforementioned circumstances?

It would be cool, but something tells me you'll be waiting a REALLY long time.
Oh wow! I've been referring back to so many posts that I didn't realize how old they are. I just assumed these legends were still active on the forum. Sad to see that there is no recent activity to be found. Never realized that. What happened?
