I have these fish for about 8 months now. I can't remember the name of them, I believe they are in the Tetra family.

Nope, not a tetra at all - that is a rainbowfish of some sort, likely a pseudomugil (you'll probably want to wait on an exact identification, though).

celebes rainbow for sure - have a few and they're some of my absolute favorite fish

Celebes for sure and couldn't agree more about them being an awesome little fish. If you can sneak some actinic blue bulbs into your lighting they'll really put on a show.

Just a note about Celebes rainbow fish, they prefer somewhat mildly saline, alkaline water. Though I'm not sure what New York City's water chemistry is like.

A little aquarium salt wouldn't hurt them but may not be appreciated by your other soft acid pH water dwelling fish, specically Cory's and most SA Tetras.
