See thats what's confusing me, I have a couple of them, some emersed and some submersed just floating, both groups have melted and then sent out new leafs, submersed group isn't doing to well as far as root structure. The ones emersed are completely covered (rhizome planted), I recently moved one and it had good root structure, although it's melted again following the move which makes me believe it's possibly a crypt or a very confused anubias. The "rhizome" isn't horizontal on any of them, and all new growth has been from the center of the plant.
I'll try one portion planted submersed, the other attached to driftwood submersed, some planted emersed, and some left with the "rhizome" exposed emersed.
it kind of looks like crypt lutea (var 'mclovin')
mine looked like that when i first got it. if you keep it under higher light/co2 for a while they should look more like they do in some of the pics on internet.
imo don't do the driftwood
