I recently found this fish amoungst some plants and took it to put in my coldwater aquarium. he looks like a goby to me but what do you think. When i seen him on the plants he was white and now he's been in my tank a day he's turned brown.

i believe it is a darter species of some kind.

Looks like a sculpin to me, not a darter. Could be wrong though

It is a sculpin... I've caught thousands of those things in the stream behind my house where I grew up.

Um, it's a river in England.

That's not a darter for certain, the shape is just wrong, as well as the location. It's also not a sculpin, as they aren't found in England, though I agree that the shape is pretty darned similar. It's a goby as the OP suggests, though I don't know what species.

If it's native, it's likely in this list, but it could be an introduced species as well.
