My biggest concern is the ability to remove plants once set up. I'm doing a big(for me) upgrade to a 55g tank in a week or two and I was thinking of doing it dirted. My greatest fear is the substrate becoming messed up and then having to redo 48" of substrate...
My other problem is that I don't see much other alternative if I want good growth. I want a heavily planted tank and the only other readily available substrates locally are fluorite, sand or gravel. Ecocomplete would cost too much to ship in and so would anything else really. I could I get any decent growth with just sand or finer gravel? I really would not like to have to tear this tank down either way.
Thanks for any help
