I put mine on top of the lower half of a china cabinent. My son is two, its high enough that he can see it, but still cant reach the top even with a step stool. He really loves his "baebae bish" (baby fish lol). Also if you call the house, and he gets hold of the phone he will take you to see his fish.

Safety side, if i had gotten anything bigger i think it would have been a problem, but the 20 i got i cant even move when its half full. Its pretty set into the wood.

My main concern with kids is the chemicals, food, and electricity. I built my 125 in a wall with room for all my crap/maintenance and a keyed door. Check out the link in my sig to see.

I am planning a 40b but it may end up in my office across from the 125. Which means all its supplies are behind a locked door

Being a dad of two kids, I know the concern with toddlers. However, just like you child-proof your house, you can secure your aquarium. Many above have already suggested how to do it.

I locked my cabinet door and used L brackets to make sure the stand would not tip. Also, nothing close to the aquarium that a toddler can climb on.

Once you secure it, turn your attention to showing your child the beauty that is your aquarium. As they grow, teach them that everything it in is natural and how everything depends on everything else to live.

Your child will grow with an appreciation for nature that will help them be a better human being.

Good luck.

Having two boys myself tanks are great for kids. I had a little 15 gallon in an apartment when my first was born. I attached the stand to the wall. Took about 10 minutes and solved all the worries.

Getting a really nice looking tank with very young children is tough. Most days you're too tired to mess with it after work, dinner, bedtime, baths, etc.

Good luck

Oh ya, I'm very familiar with that situation! Before work, I'm like "oh wow, I really need to trim those plants" then I get home and put my daughter to bed, and I'm like "it can wait for tomorrow" ha.

And yes, kids love aquariums! For my daughter's first birthday, we're taking her to the Aquarium near our town
