I have a 29gal. tank that has not been a planted tank, I am going to convert into a planted tank though but am having some trouble finding a good solution to a light source due to its uncommon size. 30" wide x 18" all and 12" deep.

30" lights are around but more limited. Does anyone know of a great fixture for these sized tanks? Also I am thinking 2 x 36W bulbs will cut it.

The tank is already setup for plans other than light. 2 cannisters of DIY co2 and eco complete as the substrate.

Thanks for any input.

I was reading rex's guide again and saw he sggested these fixures: ah supply
I have two retrofit standard fixtures right now. One is 30" wide and the other is 22" wide, fit for an 18" bulb.
i am not sure if I can find a kit that will fit 2 x 36W CF bulbs into the retrofit hood.

Thanks

2 x 55

I used a JBJ Formosa fixture and put in two 55 watt bulbs instead of two 65 watt bulbs. The fans on the fixture made a racket and stuck so I can't recommend the fixture, I'm just saying that with CO2 you may want more light.

I used a JBJ Formosa also. I bought it used on here from someone and I like it. When I got it, the ohner said it had some noise. I recieved it and ordered the complete set of three fans and is has been working perfectly. I use the twin 65 watt lights, one for a longer period than the other.
A $200 light for $80.00 plus the set of fans for I think was $10.00 a fan.
This also included all the shipping.
I think it was a great deal.

One more thing, you should clean your fixtures every now and then and make sure the fans are free of dust, hair, etc. I've been using these for maybe a year now.

http://www.tricitytropicals.com/ sells new and refurbished 30" Current fixtures There's 1x65w and 2x65w Satellite fixtures and also a 2x65w Orbit fixture. You have to call to check on availability for the refurbishes ones. I believe that they will swap out each saltwater bulb for $5 more. Current makes square pin 65w bulbs in 6700K, 10,000K and dual daylight 6700K/10,000K. TCT may have some 65 watt 8,800K ColorQuest PowerCompact (square pin) bulbs in their discontinued section.

I have two of the Orbit fixtures and I really like them.

iI used to use 2X65 PC lights on my 30, but I did not like the racket, or the heat generatd by the lights. I have since switched to 40 watts of T-8 with a reflectors. if I upgrade the 29, i will probobly buy thease lights: http://www.marineandreef.com/shoppro/power_novaXtreme2.htm
Wow! 30" HO T5 fixtures are hard to find.

I quess you know that you will have to swap out the 460nm Actinic T5 HO Lamp for a plant friendy one. Also, it uses the same length and wattage bulbs as the 24" model. The ends of a 29g aquarium may be a little dark, but it should work OK.

tricitytropicals.com - WOW super great find!!! Thanks.
That's where I got my 2x65 Orbit too,
and will be buying a second one soon.
He gave me an awesome deal with two
new 8800k bulbs instead of the usual.
These fixtures are open box, so they
are as brand new as far as I can tell.
Don't worry that it's too much light since
CF bulbs start to dim after a few Months.
