What plants are you growing? You could use fert tabs of some kind if you have heavy root feeding plants.
I have only SMS but now I need iron
I have an established tank full of SMS but I forgot to put a layer of laterite down.
Should I get chelated iron and dose with my other ferts, or drain the tank down and add laterite?

I was looking into Laterite balls to stick under my substrate and cover with more SMS.

You could use plant tabs no problem. Just make sure you place them deep.
Dose Plantex CSM or some type of chelated iron product. You will be fine.
Like Rex said Dose CSB or you can try Flourish Iron. Just test for it and add what you need to get your levels up. From what I read you don't have water in it yet, right? I'm running SMS in my 90 and don't have to supplement iron to much. Food for thought just what I have noticed.
