Other than over shadowing each other, do plants fight? Coral fights in many ways, from chemical warfare, to stinging each other, and some even consume their neighbors or grow over them. I was just curious if any aquatic plants do anything similar to this?

There are some plants that produce substances that inhibit the growth of other plants, (Example: Black Walnut: Juglone.) but in an aquatic environment this would not work very well since any substance produced would diffuse into the water and become extremely dilute, or wash completely away in the case of moving water.

Cool, thank you for the input and a few laughs. I just wanted to make sure so i didnt put anything too close together and have them kill each other. We have a favia coral that cant have anything within a 10 inch diameter around it due to its long, stinging sweeper tentacles
