Ok fairly recently set-up tank (last few months.) and it's very healthy and cycled. Living in it are some plants, red cherry shrimp, red crystal shrimp, and Ottos. My question is to what ever is growing on this java fern. If it's normal or not. Haven't kept the fern before just moss.

As you can see, it's like a black growth that is spreading. Anyone have some knowledge? Should I be concerned?

Its just baby java fern plantlets! I asked the same question when I had java ferns.

Wait until they get larger, they may fall off on their own, or you can just pluck them off.

The black is just the ugly java fern roots
Are you talking about the long black strings hanging from unfurling green stems that are attached to you leaf? If so, you are looking at a plant-let, your fern is reproducing.
awesome! Thanks a lot guys'
