Okay, so sorry for sounding like a geek, but was SO excited to look in my tank just now and see that some of my plants are pearling already!

We just got the CO2 all squared away last night and today I tweaked it to try to get the levels right. My drop checker is confusing me because I can't seem to get the indicator to match one of the three colors. It's aquamarine instead of green...weird. And measuring my KH and PH levels doesn't seem to work either because according to the chart, my fish should be dead or gasping for air, but they are swimming around happily... hmmmmm

CO2 issues aside, I guess my plants are happy, because the banana plant has a tiny stream of bubbles coming from the middle of it, and lots of others trapped under the leaves. The cabomba is covered in bubbles too, and the wisteria has a stream coming from it. I was like a little kid on Christmas just now!! LoL Hubby thinks I am a dork.:icon_roll

Are you sure you have a 4dKH solution inside your DC? If not, it will give a wrong color indication.
pearling!

How exciting to see those photos! I am a newbie myself and am going to plant my tank later this week. So this was a first for me to see what pearling looks like. Beautiful.
I can't help with any of your questions but there are plenty of people who can.
Thanks for posting those beautiful photos!

A solid stream of bubbles like that is most likley an injury of some sort. Possible some minor tissue damage right at the surface, I am not forsure though.
Yes, that is the solution that came w/ the whole CO2 system. After going out for dinner and coming home it was the right color green.... weird. I thought those things changed in minutes, not hours... Either way, the tank seems to be happy right where I've got it, so I'm not messing w/ anything. Just going to add some Flourish tomorrow and wait for my macros to get here next week.

With the wisteria that may be true, as it is streaming from the end where I trimmed it to make 2 plants out of one from my other tank.

The banana I don't think so, cuz it's right where all the stems join together, it would be weird to see an injuury there, right? Also, it's not streaming from there after coming home from dinner.... too bad, b/c it was SO cool looking to have that stream of tiny bubbles coming out of the middle of the plant.

Just for future posters:
No, they aren't like digital thermometers. It takes time for the CO2 to out gas from the aquarium water and absorb into the indicator solution changing the color.

& Ry is correct, the streaming is an injury.

Cool, Cabomba likes really nice covered with tiny bubbles.
My poor plants have boo-boos! :(

I noticed later last night that the banana plant was streaming again from where it had brown spots on the leaves. It hasn't streamed from the middle again like that though. I hope it is feeling better!
Don't worry too much Jenny, yes it is an 'injury' but it isn't something that'll need a band-aid or anything to worry about.

My plants will get streams of bubbles when I trim or sometimes just randomly. I'm inclined to think that these lesions aren't anything to worry about. Plants handle trims very well and sometimes just the bumps they get from water changes are enough to cause streams of bubbles. Either way, those bubbles under your banana plant leaves and the ones stuck to your cabomba really are true pearling, and your plants look happy to me!
