Don't worry I am NOT going to have this in my tank, since it is illegal. I would like a plant that looks similar. Any suggestions?

Its only illegal to transport it across state lines. I think in some states, it's illegal to retail. Ask your local club if you want some. Oregon isn't really REALLY strict, so you should be fine.

As for replacements:

Hygrophila tiger
Hygro bold
Polygonum hydropiperoides

The two hygro's have more color. Most the time, you find hygro polysperma sunset, which has a virus which gives it a really bright and beautiful red color. In my opinion, this plant is next to impossible to kill. I once ripped it all from my tank, thought I took it all out but half a leaf was buried. From that half leaf, over a months time I got eight, 6' stems.

Okay even if it is not illegal, I had heard before that it grows very quickly so this might not be the best option if I ever wanted to remove it. Oh and I am not part of a club so I would HAVE to order it.

Shinnersia rivularis seems to have a similar veined appearance.

Good luck finding it though.

Limnophila rugosa is the best option. Looks similar, bushier, stays green, less leggy, more manageable. Yes, a Limnophila. Aside from the hydropiperoides, the rest mentioned are weedy ('bold' apparently IS polysperma, or at least something very close to it).
