I'm just curious if any of you guys/gals ever attempted doing a hydroponic system using the weekly water change as a source of nutrients. Some of use use the EI method and that should provide a decent amount of nutrients along with dead plant matters and fish waste.

I water the house plants with tank water, and also have an overhead sump planter on one of my tanks. A dedicated hydroponics setup may be a good place to recycle tank water.

I drain the tank water into my garden. Not hydroponics, but the nutrients get put to good use.
