Has anybody here tried growing hydroctyle along the ground as a foreground plant? If you have what form of challenges does it present? I've read that it can be done quite successfully and I'm now trying exactly that. It looks pretty neat growing in and around my crypts. The colour differences between the two really look great.

I've tried to plant it as a fourground, but it just grew upward. I planted individually so it looked like stepping stones through the gravel. Good luck.

I understand that if push the up-growing shoots back into the gravel until you get the carpet effect, you can then just prune all the upshoots to your discretion. Might be a lot of work but I think it will look pretty good and your effort might be rewarded.

I'm trying it on one side of my tank growing it in between my crypts. So far I like what I see.
