I'm looking for a certain species of Hydrocotyle but before I buy some I'd like to know what this species is that grows in my back yard! Enumerated growth obviously will differ from submerged an keep in mind that it's in low 40s here in Virginia. Here's pics:

Go ahead and try it. Can't give you a s pecies name but most hydrocotyle are pretty flood tolerant and many from asia are invasive in the US so it's not impossible that you have one of the fully aquatic ones.

you can use this to maybe narrow down what you have. if you click on a species and then click on the state, sometimes it will even narrow distribution down to county.

It looks like Hydrocotyle heteromeria to me.

It's H. sibthorpioides, an introduced plant.
