Try using an advanced search. Or do a google search for aquarium co2 system. Rex's stuff is great

Hey kreativ.
from tropical fish forum.net

as I said b4 just get a regular co2 bottle.. Dont bother with fire extinguishers
its more work. as for the regulator buy one from Rex or 1 that is on sale in the Swap. Section
Ok.

First you need a CO2 based fire extinguisher. The chemical ones will not work.

Second if you have a CO2 based fire extinguisher then you need to take it to a shop and have the valve removed and replaced with a CGA 320 valve.

You then have a cylinder.
oh yeah it looks like its more work, i think ill rather just go and buy the bottle for 61 bucks. but first i have to find a place that will fill up my bottles i guess.

Thanks for pointing that out, Rex. You beat me to it.:icon_lol:

I went to a place in Austin called air gas. I think they are national. Anyway the sell gas (of all kinds) for bars (beer and soda) and to welders and other commercial users. They sell to the public too. Basically you buy a tank of whatever size you need, it comes filled the first time. Then you can trade it in or have it refilled (takes longer). I decided not to keep my very pretty brand new first CO2 tank for a couple of reasons.

1) the commercial gas sales places have to pressure test the tanks periodically (having had a scuba tank fail on me once.. I like the idea that a pressurized tank is tested properly).

2) it's faster... I just go in and swap it for a filled tank.

The cons are.. the tanks don't look pretty at all. And generally they won't do under a 10 lb tank. But I keep my tank under the stand out of site so I don't care about pretty. The PRO is a biggie... a bigger CO2 tank means I don't have to have it filled as often. My advice.. go as big as you can hide. I love my fancy beautiful planted tank... but I"m a big fat lazy ___ (you fill in the blank). I had a 5 lb CO2 tank.. then a 10 lb tank.. and now I have a 20 lb tank... I"m loving it. I spend my time pruning instead of worrying about CO dumping and lack thereof.

[in Seguin, there is a very nice fire extinguisher place that will fill your CO tank for fire or for paint ball, they thought I was nuts or doing something illegal until I brought in pictures of my tanks. Nice people. Shop is on Austin St. if anyone is looking for c02 fills in south Texas]

Be careful with that! When you get a CO2 cylinder refilled at a welding supply house or someplace that deals with beverage equipment it's usually lab grade stuff, or very close to it. A paint ball store/fire extinguisher service may not have the purity levels we would like to have. There may also be other gases mixed in, albeit at very low volumes.
