I'm planning to upgrade my tank from a 90Cm to a 150CM tank. I plan to use my existing gravel which is a mixture of Amazonia Gravel , Small Pebble Stone gravel and black sand.

After watching ADA videos i'm interested to add those additive like ADA Penac W, ADA Penac P and ADA Tourmaline into my new 150CM system.
So my question is can i use my current mixed substrate as a bottom layer gravel then add on those additive before laying another new layer of amazonia gravel.

I think the addictives are best spread on the bottom and not in the middle of the layers. My answer is based on the green machine videos on YouTube. Where they are used frequently

You can use the old substrate as well I don't see why not.

I find plants have an almost "magical" way of finding what they need. That leaves me thinking we do way to much to plan for them. I'm thinking if the good stuff is there, they will adapt and grow roots where they work best.
