Hi all the Shrimpers, I am planing to use just tap water to raise neos but got some questions for all of you. My tap is extremely soft, the TDS pen reads 45ppm, GH 6 and KH 3. I would like to know how can i bring up my TDS to 200ppm. I know there are tons of mineral powder or liquid to add but with is better and effective?

The way I raise my tds is with salty shrimp gh+ and my shrimp are happy and breeding
Those results don't seem quite right.... what are you using to test your GH and KH? Are you using a new or old TDS pen?

There is one product called Mosura TDS Up that could be used.
I was been told to use that product too

Bump: is a new TDS pen and I using API GH and KH test kit
I would expect for you to have higher TDS with your GH and KH levels.

I don't know if it's true, but I saw someone say that 1 GH equals about 15-25(?) TDS. (realizing that the two aren't the same, but it's an approximate) I have 3-4 GH and KH out of tap with a TDS of ~50, give or take 10. Therefore, it just seems odd to me that you would have higher GH with approximately same or lower TDS.

It's possible that the pen needs to be calibrated, or maybe somehow the GH test isn't being done correctly, but besides the TDS being low, that's practically perfect water for cherry shrimp!

Old Sea Mud Powder could also be used to bring up the TDS, but you might need to use a lot of it to get the TDS to a desired amount. (150 or so) I haven't used Mosura TDS Up so I don't know how it compares.

Since my water is so soft, I either have to remineralize it or mix it with harder tap water. I'm currently mixing with hard tap to a desired TDS level, and I find it's much better than a crappy remineralizing product. There are great products to remineralize water for shrimp, I just don't have one.
