Hi! I have 3 neon tetras that I realized I can't provide the proper care for. I only have a 10 gallon planted tank with 8 guppies, so adding more tetras to make a proper school is out of the question due to overstocking.

Do any of you have some ideas on what I can do with them?

Try to give them away. I think you could try in the random acts of kindness forum (RAOK) as a give away. Also there us the Aquaswap subreddit on reddit where people give away plants and fish often.

Take them back to the pet shop

^^ taking them back to the pet shop, or finding somebody to take them for you would be best. Alternatively you could just keep taking care of them until they die from natural causes.

Thank you all! I think I will try to give them back to the pet shop, i'm just not sure if they will take them.

The pet store should be able to take them. You can even see if you can get a store credit - a few neons should get you a couple bucks to put towards fish food or something.

Awww, just keep the little guys, that's their home now. You will enjoy them, and they should be fine with the guppies.

catching neons... in a well planted tank .... at least it's only 10 gallons, and it's 3 of them

Most good pet shops will take back fish.
