why wont my platies eat flake food ive even tried beta pellets and they dont eat that either i see them excrete so i know they are eating something but every time i see them eat a flake they spit it back out:icon_frow

Exactly what Treasy said. Sounds like they are already full. Don't feed them for a couple days. I promise you they will eat those flakes eventually when they get hungry enough.

Another idea may be like my mollies, the flakes are just too big they may eat it and spit it out multiple times to break it up. I crush my flakes down to almost powder before feeding it to my mollies, regardless of size. I have a Molly that's 3.5 inches that won't eat flakes unless they're crushed up.

How long have you had them? HAve you considered that they might have some sort of internal parasite or something? I had some Harlequin rasbora that wouldnt eat--they did the same thing you describe--I treated the tank for internal parasites and they started eating like normal.
