nerites not hatching

At some point, the eggs need a certain level of salt in the water, in order to hatch. I'm not sure of the specifics/degree needed. Maybe someone else around here has dialed it down. Without salt, I believe the egg deposits will just collect like little gum drops around the tank!

I have heard that they have been bred in really hard water, but the eggs do need salt. Also, the larva are planktonic, so any fish in the tank would eat them.

I'm working on this currently. When I looked into it I found that it wants Brackish water with high pH and hardness. I've added crushed coral for substrate in that tank. After the eggs are laid, the article suggested increasing the salt content closer to full salt water.

I'm only two weeks into the process of going brackish so nothing yet.

Hi Bottomfeeder:
I would be interested in reading the article you have on breeding Nerites snails. It is something I would like to try sometime. Is it available on-line?
