How my old is pleco?
2 days ago I bought a huge standard pleco for only £10. its 15inchs long, its mouth is the size of my thumb. I asked the women at the pet shop how old it is but I think she sort of guest and said 4yrs old. is that true? also my pleco to touch feels like sand paper, oddity there to name one.

There are so many things that can affect fish growth rates that there is no way to look at a fish and be sure. Most Pleco species dont hit full growth or sexual maturity till theyre at least 2-3 years (some species longer), though.
No way to tell without examining its inner ear bone after dissection. Yes their skin is very rough.
