How much Purigen
I bought a 100mL bag of purigen for my shrimp tank. It says to use one bag per 100 gal, but I'm afraid to open the bag. Do people just toss a whole bag in? I might like to use some in my other tank to get rid of tannins.

if you buy purigen in a bottle, you can pour the dosage you need into a media mesh bag otherwise the ready made bags are just plop and recharge
I bought the 100mL bag of purigen for my shrimp tank too. Just kept it in its bag and replaced my HOB's carbon with it. Everything is fine (it's a 30 gal tank too lol).
Yes, you can put the bag right in your filter. I use it on a 12 g with no issues. I'd rinse it off first just to get dust and debris off it.
I pre-rinsed my purigen in prime water before using them.
