I currently have 300w of VHO lighting (2-36" and 1-48") in my 125g tank. How much more is required for med/high light? Or is that enough? Had to return recent purchase and am looking for replacement. Thinking AHSupply, but not sure how much more I need. I have (3) 22"wide x 10"deep areas under canopy lid to mount the lights.

(2) 2x36 ?

or

(2) 2x55 ?

or

(3) ???

Also, what are the bulb recommendations from AH? VHOs are 10k. What is best for plants from AH's selection?

Thanks,

Ted

I think you might have enough. Since the WPG rule breaks down in large tanks, you don't need to hit 3.0wpg for such a large tank. Actually I think you might be on the high side for that size tank.

As for bulbs, a lot of people like mixing the 10000 with 6500 to get a better balance of color but thats only personal visual preference, anything from 5500K to 10k will grow plants more or less the same
