How many stones?

So it seems like they sell stones by the pound. I have a ten gallon that I want to scape but I dont know how many pounds to buy. -For example, 10 lbs. of seiryu stone? I have no experience with these stones.

10 to 15 pounds of stone will be sufficient for a ten gallon. Attached is a photo of 10lbs of Koke stone in front of a 10 gallon that I'm the process of setting up. Koke stone is more porous than Seiryu stone so you may wish to go with 15

Depends on your tank you should get more than enough so that you can be more flexible. Extra stone can be put aside, who knows when you are going to use it..

Rule number one, always keep your collection of hardscapes.

If you go to the "For Sale" section there's a member on there that usually has a lot of seriyu stone listed. Scroll all the way down and there are some WYSIWYG groupings of 9-25 lbs with a Coke can for scale. There's quite a selection so you can get an idea what the different weights look like. Here's a link. http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/153-sale-trade/1113786-seiryu-stone-ohko-dragon-stone-spiderwood-updated-wysiwyg-plants-root-tabs.html
Actually that member pm'd me directly and has a wonderful section and helpful thread, and well there's no other way to put it but I'm cheap and cannot justify atm paying premiums for hardscaping materials. :/ I'm going to save some more money and keep browsing. Thank you for the info

+1 this is EXACTLY what I was going to say. Get more than you will need so you have some options. NEVER get rid of your hardscape. Trust me, you will need them eventually (try to convince my fiance though lol)
