How many rinses after a vinegar soak

479 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Kirbybtf
I just finished up a 2 day vinegar soak with all equipment running, attempting to clean out an old reef tank to use for a planted tank. The soak involved a full scrub down of each individual part. I used 2 gallons of vinegar to 112 gallons of water. Right now I'm filling it up to let it run with just regular hose water to get any remnants of vinegar out. How many times should I fill and empty to be sure all vinegar is gone? I'm super paranoid about introducing vinegar to the tank. Thanks

I would think empty the tank and air dry should be all that is required.
After the water is gone only carbon is left behind(C2H4O2)
Vinegar is typically only 5% acetic acid and you have heavily diluted it with 112 gallons.
Something like .08% acetic acid.

This answer is perfect, backed up by MFin science. Thank you so much.
