When i set up my 85g about 2 years ago, i noticed a sticker on the bottom that said it was made in 1998. It's in very good condition, no visible weak points. I did purchase the aquarium/stand from someone on craigslist (it was "used").

BUT should i be concerned? What is the typical "life span" on a glass aquarium?

I just realized that it will be about 12 years old this coming year.

I have a 22 year old all glass tank still going - so I wouldn't worry.

Until the tank itself starts leaking, I wouldn't worry about anything.

I agree, age isn't a worry but there are some basic things that matter in case you didnt know. Make sure the tank is level on a sturdy stand. It is a risk to try and move the tank with water in it, this might increase the odds of putting extra pressure on one seam. This is a good idea for any thank not just old ones. I have a 25+ year old slate bottom tank that still hold water.

Alright, i didn't know aquariums could be sturdy that long.

The aquarium is level on the stand, and i don't have plans of moving it anytime soon.
