How long is aquasoil amazonia good for?

Clearly depends on the amount of plants but a low to medium planted tank should be good for about 3 or 4 years or is that pushing it? is there a recommended change out time ?

Have heard of those that left it in tank for a couple year's with good success,High light energy/CO2 injected.
Have also noted that few seem to leave aquascapes as is, for more than a few month's outside those in low tech/lower light energy tank's.

i think the company says about 1 year but i've seen some that are 2-3 years old.
The medium may last 2-3 years but the buffering capability only lasts for a few months.

My tap water is liquid rock so the water softening capacity did wonders in allowing me to grow soft water plants. But I'd have needed to do RO water changes to maintain those plants after the AquaSoil was depleted.
