Hi! I currently have a 20 gallon long tank with a dwarf hairgrass carpet that experienced hell of an algae attack, specifically only hair algae. The only thing in this tank is one neon tetra. I have not put food in this tank for months. What the hell does it eat? Has it survived off of the DHG or the algae or both? I have eradicated most of the hair algae, so now there is just dead algae on the plants. I plan on adding more neon tetras, but I first need to understand how this fish is still kicking and going strong. Thanks!

If it helps, I have pictures of the tank on my profile.

Mooncon, it could have been that mycoal did not realize it was there. A similar thing happened to a Cory. I switched the fish in one tank to a different one but I apparently forgot one Cory. It survived for a month before I found it. It probably ate the microorganisms in the tank. Same thing probably happened with the neon.
