Say you take some of the biological media from an established tanks filter and added to a newly setup tanks filter. Does it work instantly to cycle the tank, say with a light initial fish load?

That's what I assumed. I've done it quite a few times and never had any issues. I guess it's a benefit of having MTS. You've always got some bio media to spare!
